Why I Walk
I am a living kidney donor for my cousin, Shannon. She made a Facebook post on January 3, 2023 that she needed a kidney. That day I contacted her transplant team and started the evaluation process to see if I was a match.
June 30, 2023 - I was confirmed as a match for Shannon.
July 16, 2023 - Surgery date was decided
September 8, 2023 - We had our successful surgeries. Shannon now has my kidney and we're both doing well!
I walk to support the lifechanging work of the National Kidney Foundation:
- To ensure that families will have a place to turn when they need answers.
- To keep up the fight for policy changes to protect kidney patients and living donors.
- To drive innovation in transplantation and get more loved ones off the kidney transplant waitlist.
