Why We Walk
This year, our team has joined others across the country to fight against kidney disease.
Together, we walk to support the lifechanging work of the National Kidney Foundation:
- To ensure that families will have a place to turn when they need answers.
- To keep up the fight for policy changes to protect kidney patients and living donors.
- To drive innovation in transplantation and get more loved ones off the kidney transplant waitlist.

Shannon Tedder and Kristen Chartier Veith are cousins. Shannon made a Facebook post on January 3, 2023 that she needed a kidney . That day Kristen contacted Shannon's transplant team and started the evaluation process to see if she was a match.
June 30, 2023 - Kristen was confirmed as a match for Shannon.
July 16, 2023 - Surgery date was decided
September 8, 2023 - We had our successful surgeries and Shannon now has Kristen's kidney!
