Hi Everyone,
My name is Monica Farfan and I have been living with Chronic Kidney Disease for 6 years. I was diagnosed with Lupus at the age of 21, and was told before that due to extensive nature of disease it could either affect my heart, lungs or kidneys. At the age of 23 I was diagnosed with Lupus Nephritis and Kidney Disease that required me undergoing a kidney biopsy and chemotherapy. By the age of 27 I had undergone 3 rounds of chemotherapy, 1 round of Rituximab and was in and out of the hospital for weeks on end. By the time I was 28 the doctors had finally decided to put me on dialysis as my body was retaining fluid. Currently I am still on dialysis awaiting transplant and still hopeful that any day I’ll get the call… but it doesn’t stop me from trying to live my best life and help others who are going through the same thing.
