Why We Walk

On June 2nd, 2023 my sister Arien donated a perfect kidney to me. The surgeries went flawlessly and we both have recovered well. I am so lucky and blessed she was able to give me a new lease on life. Although I felt and looked healthy, I was facing a reality that my kidneys would fail. Without a transplant I would have to start dialysis. I was so fortunate that I could plan ahead to ask for potential donors and find a perfect match in Arien. For many people with Chronic Kidney Disease they are waiting for years while on dialysis wishing for a donor.

We’re walking to celebrate the incredible process we experienced together. Also we walk to honor all other donors who give so selflessly to save loved ones, friends & even complete strangers! 

Together, we walk to support the lifechanging work of the National Kidney Foundation:
     - To ensure that families will have a place to turn when they need answers.
     - To keep up the fight for policy changes to protect kidney patients and living donors.
     - To drive innovation in transplantation and get more loved ones off the kidney transplant waitlist.
