Why I Walk
I walk because kidney disease affects 1 out of 3 people especially those with diabetes or high blood pressure. For many, treatment can involve dialysis or a transplant since there is no cure. It can affect any age and not limited to any specific race or sex.
I have been a kidney patient since 1994 which marks my 30th anniversary. I have had two transplants with my second one lasting over 12 years. As a way of giving back, I am committed to doing my part to get the word out about kidney disease. With this year's Walk, I am raising funds to help support those with kidney disease, educate the public about it and support promising research to find a cure.
I would like to ask my friends and family to consider giving a donation to the Kidney Walk and to my fundraiser. Any amount you can afford is acceptable is greatly appreciated. Your support can make a big difference.
