"Why I Walk"

I walk because, although we count ourselves among the fortunate, Aiden's journey with kidney disease continues and will continue to shape his life. In December 2020, his medical team recommended the removal of his non-functioning kidney and ureter, ensuring that his remaining kidney could lead to a happier, healthier life. Despite recent challenges, we're committed to our determination to navigate this path, hopeful that Aiden's single kidney will sustain him, preserving the joyful spirit of the four-year-old we love and cherish.
I walk because far too many families, like mine, grapple with the weight of this relentless chronic illness. And sadly, thousands more will confront the unexpected diagnosis of kidney disease in the days ahead.
I walk to champion the transformative efforts of the National Kidney Foundation:

• Providing a lifeline of support and information for families in need.
• Advocating for policy reforms that safeguard kidney patients and living donors.
• Spearheading innovations in transplantation, striving to reduce the agonizing waitlist for kidney transplants.
