My 2022 Philadelphia Kidney Walk Fundraising Page
Lisa Harrelson
WHY I WALK:
As a new nurse practitioner in nephrology, I've come across so many individuals with varying stages of kidney disease from kidney stones to the need for dialysis.
What most people don't know, is the vital role our kidneys play in our overall health. They are often an innocent bystander to other chronic illnesses such as diabetes and high blood pressure.
As a practitioner and healthcare advocate, my goal is to educate the population with simple truths that can improve not only our kidney health, but our overall health:
"FUN" FACT: The continued/chronic/regular use of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory medications (NSAIDS) can cause transient to severe damage of our kidney function over time. This class of medications is supplied mostly over-the-counter, which means we all have easy access at our local drug stores. This includes medications such as ibuprofen, Advil, Aleve, naproxen, Motrin, and Excedrin.
It is my goal to raise $500 for the national kidney foundation alongside my fellow colleagues at Metropolitan Nephrology Assoc. If you wish to participate, we would be glad to walk alongside you at the event.
PLEASE CONSIDER SUPPORTING MY EFFORTS WITH A DONATION.
