Why I Walk

As many of you know, I lost someone really close to me due to a kidney disease. Jake fought so hard with many doctors appointments and many hospital visits. Throughout his journey he never failed to remain positive and always looked at things on the brighter side. This was a quality about him I have and will always admire. Jake lived his life to the absolute fullest and I have learned SO much from him. I learned through him to treat everyone with kindness because you don't know what battles they may be facing. I learned to live in the present and worry less about the future. Most of all, I learned that happiness is a choice and Jake was someone who chose happiness every single day, despite any obstacles. I strive to implement all I learned from him in my life, everyday.

So, I walk to spread awareness. I walk to help others. I walk for those who cannot. I walk because this is something Jake would be so proud of. I walk to support Jake and show him love. 

I also want to thank my brothers and sister-in-laws for joining me in walking to support this amazing cause. They all share a friend who has kidney problems and so this cause is important to not only just me, but my entire family.
