Why I Walk

I walk because too many people ignore the symptoms of Kidney Cancer. In 2018, I married the love of my life, less than a year later, I was diagnosed with stage 3 Kidney Cancer. A simple sentence from my daughter “Mom, your’e not eating your food” got me thinking about the fact that I felt full all the time. I would be famished at one minute, take a bite or 2 and then already  feel full. I had other symptoms such as a burning pain in my back and hot flashes, but I came up with excuses to explain them away. It was not until my daughter spoke up, that I took notice and listened to what my body was telling me. Two weeks later, I was officially diagnosed with Renal Cell Carcinoma- Kidney Cancer.  

I walk to support the lifechanging work of the National Kidney Foundation:
     - To ensure that families will have a place to turn when they need answers.
     - To keep up the fight for policy changes to protect kidney patients and living donors.
     - To spread awareness and encourage people to listen to their bodies.
