Why I Walk
Hello & welcome to Pamcakes Kick Ass Kidney Crew!
As most of you know, polycystic kidney disease runs in the Maloney family. My dad was on dialysis and later benefitted from the amazing gift of a transplant. My sister is currently on dialysis and is also on the transplant waitlist (2+ years now). Fortunately for me, my doctor has said I am an anomaly as my kidneys are not deteriorating at the same rate. My laziness and procrastination are finally paying off!!
Unfortunately, millions of people are on the same expedited path as my dad and sister. Did you know...80% of people on the transplant waitlist are in need of a kidney. The National Kidney Foundation is working hard to reduce that number.
Please join the walk and be a part of the Pamcakes Kick Ass Kidney Crew! Don't want to walk...no worries, come and cheer everyone on! Don't want to get out of bed...I get it! Donations are greatly appreciated. All walkers and cheerleaders get a "Sherry original" team t-shirt. If that's not incentive I don't know what is!! The design changes every year, so be sure to collect them all!
