WHY I WALK
I walk because at 19 years old, I got my first kidney stone and by 27 years old I was on dialysis.
I walk to educate people that diabetes and high blood pressure are not the only way your kidneys can fail. Kidney stones, infections and poor diet are also on that list.
I walk because a kidney transplant is not the end of kidney disease.
I walk because I want to give back to one of the best organizations! I have never not been given any help I needed whether it was financial, emotional or just being there.
I walk because too many families (like mine) are coping with this devastating chronic illness, and thousands more will face an unexpected kidney disease diagnosis in the year to come.
I walk because a kidney transplant is not always the end of your kidney diseases.
I walk to support the lifechanging work of the National Kidney Foundation:
- To ensure that families will have a place to turn when they need answers.
- To keep up the fight for policy changes to protect kidney patients and living donors.
- To drive innovation in transplantation and get more loved ones off the kidney transplant waitlist.
Are you with me?
