Why We Walk

This year, our team has joined others throughout the country to fight against kidney disease. On June 09, 2024, we’ll walk for our loved ones, colleagues, friends, patients and patient families who cope with this devastating chronic illness each day – and for those who lost their fight too soon.

Together, we walk to support the lifechanging work of the National Kidney Foundation:
- To ensure that families will have a place to turn when they need answers.
- To keep up the fight for policy changes to protect kidney patients and living donors.
- To drive innovation in transplantation and get more loved ones off the kidney transplant waitlist.

Please join us!

Walk with us and fundraise -or- support our efforts with a generous donation to improve the lives of kidney patients in our community and across the country.

SHIRT PICK UP You can pick up shirts at the Nephrology Office (Main Hospital Building, Suite 7400, Orange Elevators to the 7th floor) M-F 8am-4pm Cost for non-walkers Adult $15.00 Youth $10.00 Cost for registered walkers we ask that you make a donation or pay $5 each for your shirts, however, this is optional. IMPORTANT INFO: Thank you to everyone who has registered and or donated... Your walk builds hope for a future without suffering—for every person in this fight! By participating in the 2024 Cleveland Kidney Walk, you’ll let others know they’re not alone. Thank you! This is a fun event for all ages! There will be various vendors, games, prizes, giveaways, mascots, music, snacks, and much more! All participants must register either on the team page or upon arrival at the event. The event is Sunday June 9th at 830am at The Great Lakes Science Center, Cleveland Ohio The walk is 3 miles. Parking is free in certain areas around the event, there is roadside parking with meters, however in the parking decks there is a small parking fee (I believe it’s $4.00) Akron Children's has partnered with The National Kidney Foundation for many years. We take pride in our efforts and contributions to make this event as exciting, and advantageous as possible! With that being said, we will have a large table/tent at the event with fun games, prizes, giveaway items, etc.! If you have registered all of your participants, please reach out to me with shirt sizes, I will have them ready for you to pick up! The 2024 Kidney Walk is only 3 weeks away!!!! Please continue to spread the word! Stop by the Nephrology Office to pick up and pay for your shirt, if you are a registered walker, the shirt is $5 each, which will go towards our team donation!

HI EVERYONE!!!! Weekly Walk Updates leading up to the walk will start this week so check the page for frequent updates! The walk is only 29 days away!!!! The Nephrology Staff is working diligently to get flyers and letters out to our patient homes! Our team shirts are currently in production and will be available for purchase once received! I will send a sneak peak of this year's shirt very soon! ;) Please sign up for the team, donate, spread the word! The more walkers the merrier! :) Our team goal is $5000! I know we can reach and even surpass this goal! Welcome to the 2024 Akron Children’s Hospital Team Page! The 2024 Kidney Walk is Sunday June 9th at 830am. The location is currently TBD. Stay Tuned for more info! I will post more information as I receive it regarding location, team shirts, etc! It’s never too early to sign up and recruit team members! I set our goal high this year at $5000. I know we can surpass it! Super excited to for this amazing event!
