Why I WalkI walk because I work as a nephrology social worker with families who are coping with the devastating chronic illness of kidney disease, forcing them to rely on a dialysis machine to keep them alive. They suffer in all areas of their life as a result, not only physically, but mentally, emotionally, socially and spiritually. They often feel alone and wonder if anyone really cares. When you donate to this cause you can show them someone does.
The funds we raise on this walk support the life changing work of the National Kidney Foundation:
- To ensure that families will have a place to turn when they need answers.
- To keep up the fight for policy changes to protect kidney patients and living donors.
- To drive innovation in transplantation and get more loved ones off the kidney transplant waitlist.
All funds raised in this area support the the work of NKF here, including the patient support group, the annual Kidney Education Day and the Emergency Fund Program, along with all the other NKF support programs that are available.
Are you with me?
