2023, the year of milestones. Help me raise $10K for 10 Years.
On May 1st, I turned 60! On June 28, I will celebrate the TENTH anniversary of my kidney transplant.
Because of the events of nearly 10 years ago, so many things have been possible for me. Things that I had previously thought I would never live to experience! I celebrated my big birthday with my twin sister, Kathy. I was blessed to have seen my daughter, Bridget, marry Steve Group in 2019. I was able to hold my first grandson, Alfie, this past year. I am excitedly helping plan the marriage of our other daughter, Ruth, to Kendell Whitehead this Fall. My husband, Tom (who also turned 60 this year) and I celebrated our 35th wedding anniversary this year too!
I have made many memories with family and friends, and I owe these past 10 years to my best friend and kidney donor Teresa Kosse. Teresa and I have known one another since we were freshman at Saint Mary's College. Our senior year, we were roommates. Since that time, we have shared many memories. We were in each other's weddings. I am godmother to her son Daniel. My husband, Tom and I have travelled extensively with Teresa and her husband, Greg, over the years. Because of Teresa's selfless act of kidney donation, I am looking forward to many more years of fun with my bestie.
On May 13, on the Misawaka River Walk, Team Shari will particiapte in the SOUTH BEND KIDNEY WALK. I HAVE THE LOFTY GOAL OF RAISING $10,000 IN HONOR OF 10 YEARS! If you would like to help out, please consider a donation in honor of kidney patients and donors. Or join me on Team Shari (Teresa and I named the kidney Shari, because we share it). Register today.
Why I Walk
I walk because too many families (like mine) are coping with this devastating chronic illness, and thousands more will face an unexpected kidney disease diagnosis in the year to come.I walk to support the lifechanging work of the National Kidney Foundation:
- To ensure that families will have a place to turn when they need answers.
- To keep up the fight for policy changes to protect kidney patients and living donors.
- To drive innovation in transplantation and get more loved ones off the kidney transplant waitlist.
Are you with me?
Please consider supporting my efforts with a generous donation.
