As a very tenured nephrology nurse. I have a very special reason to celebrate and walk this year. My brother, Roy Tyrone "Gus" Cato, and his wonderful wife Melanie are living well with his CKD. As a PD patient for more than 2 years, I am so proud of how they have faced this as a team. The level of compliance with his treatment regimen has been amaziing! His best quote: "I choose to focus on what I can do not on what I can no longer do!" This is the source of my URL: proud of my brother. It is my honor to serve as his healthcare advocate and to be his big sister.
I will also be celebrating my 71st birthday on August 27.2022 the day of the Dallas-Fort Worth Walk, so a double celebration!
We have experienced firsthand, the life-changing work of the National Kidney Foundation:
- To ensure that families will have a place to turn when they need answers.
- To keep up the fight for policy changes to protect kidney patients and living donors.
- To drive innovation in transplantation and get more loved ones off the kidney transplant waitlist.
