WHY I WALK My husband was diagnosed 4 years ago with Stage 3 Kidney Disease after not being treated for hypertension from his Dr. On April 30th 2020 his life changed drastically as he had to be admitted to the hospital to start dialysis. For the past year I have been amazed by his strength. He continued to work full time until Covid made him stop for a few months. He was able to get the vaccine and return to teaching. While teaching he would go to hemodialysis 3 days a week right after school. In February we were surprised to find out that one of his Coworkers had been through the process of being tested. Betsy is our angel that saved my husband. God had told her before she even received the results that she was his match. On May 4, 2021 my husband received the gift of life from Betsy and today he gets to come home. We are so grateful and thankful for Betsy and can never thank her enough. As his wife I want to be able to support others through this journey and help in any way I can. God gave us this testimony to help others. I walk because too many families (like mine) are coping with this devastating chronic illness, and thousands more will face an unexpected kidney disease diagnosis in the year to come. I walk to support the lifechanging work of the National Kidney Foundation: - To ensure that families will have a place to turn when they need answers. - To keep up the fight for policy changes to protect kidney patients and living donors. - To drive innovation in transplantation and get more loved ones off the kidney transplant waitlist. Are you with me? PLEASE CONSIDER SUPPORTING MY EFFORTS WITH A GENEROUS DONATION.
