Why I WalkThis year I celebrate 19 years with the National Kidney Foundation! Over the nearly two decades, I have seen too many families coping with this devastating chronic illness, and thousands more will face an unexpected kidney disease diagnosis in the year to come.
I walk to support the lifechanging work of the National Kidney Foundation:
- To ensure that families will have a place to turn when they need answers.
- To keep up the fight for policy changes to protect kidney patients and living donors.
- To drive innovation in transplantation and get more loved ones off the kidney transplant waitlist.
This year I call my team "Jackman 5" for the OG Jackmans - Phil, Tina, Sheila, Susan, and me - but we have branched out and grown our family so much since the early days on Winthrope Avenue, most recently adding my new son-in-law.
Last year we had a small but mighty group who walked 10K around the monuments in DC. I am so grateful to Terry Woods for his significant support of this effort, and Katie, Alex, Katherine, and Elyssa for being the best cheerleaders! What will we do this year?!
I invite all family and friends to join the Jackman 5 and make a difference in the lives of kidney patients. COVID has had a devastating impact on the kidney community and we need your support now more than ever!
Please consider supporting my efforts with a generous donation.
